ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

AIDED

Candidates should qualify under any of the following examinations:

  1. Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Examination, Government ofTamil Nadu.
  2. Candidates who have passed Senior School Certificate Examination (XII standard)  of the Central Board of Secondary Examination with not less than five subjects of which English shall be one.
  3. Candidates who have passed ICS Examination of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination with not less than five subjects, of which English shall be one.
  4. Candidates who have passed any Examination conducted by a State Government or a University or Board under the 10+2 pattern with not less than five subjects, of which English shall be one.
  5. Candidates from other universities or bodies and those from other countries having qualification not listed above should send their transcripts to The Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai – 625 021, Tamilnadu, India and obtain provisional eligibility certificate for admission as per Government of India circular, Ministry of Education, dated 20thApril1992.

Additional Requirements for Specific Programmes:

  1. For B.Sc.  Mathematics I Physics I Chemistry: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as subjects at the Higher Secondary level.
  2. For B.A. Economics, preference will be given to candidates with Mathematics as a subject at the Higher Secondary level.
  3. For B.Com., Commerce as a subject under the academic or vocational stream at the Higher Secondary level.
  4. For B.Sc. Zoology I B.Sc. Botany : Biology or Botany and Zoology as subjects at the Higher Secondary level.

Note: Each undergraduate student should opt for any one of the following co- curricular activites. Any activity chosen thus will be for four semesters.

  1. National Cadet Corps (Army)
  2. National Cadet Corps (Navy)
  3. National Service Scheme
  4. Physical Education

The students of all undergraduate programmes should compulsorily study a language under Part I. Tamil, Hindi & French are the options available.

SELF FINANCED

  2. For B.Sc.Mathematics Physics: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects at the Higher Secondary level.
  3. For B.Sc. Computer Science: Mathematics as a  subjects at the Higher Secondary level.
  4. For B.Sc.Biochemistry: Chemistry as a  subjects at the Higher Secondary level. Biology I Zoology I Mathematics subjects at the Higher Secondary level is preferred.
  5. For B.Sc. Microbiology : Biology as a  subjects at the Higher Secondary level.
  6. For B.Com./ B.Com. C.A/B.Com. IT :Commerce as a subject under the academic or vocational stream at the Higher Secondary level. 

The students of all undergraduate programmes (other than B.Com.} should compulsorily study a language under Part I.Tamil, Hindi and French are the options available.
