The Deployment of institutional Strategic/Perspective plan

Ever since its inception, The American College has seen continuous growth in areas of academics and infrastructural development.  After becoming an autonomous institution in 1978, the college has grown both horizontally and vertically. Now the college is intended to move towards becoming a Deemed University.  To sustain its growth, the college has identified the following areas to be strengthened.  The target of Strategic Planning and Deployment for 2015-20 are mentioned here.

  1. Revisiting the existing governance structure and administrative set up: Two Deputy coordinators for NAAC and two deputy coordinators for IQAC are deputed
  2. Bringing teaching and learning process on par with international standards
  3. Providing the best infrastructural facilities to students
  4. Encouraging the faculty for Research and Development
  5. Making sure that the growth of the college always resonates with the vision and mission of the institution
  6. Looking for partnership with other institutions abroad
  7. Finding financial resources for furtherance of the strategic and perspective plans

In order to strengthen research among the science faculty, an Instrumentation Centre consisting of latest instruments was functionalized.

New programs like B.Sc. Food Science, M.Sc. Food Science, B.Sc. Visual Communication, B.Sc. Physical Education, B. Sc. Psychology, M.Sc. Psychology, B.Com. Professional Accounting, B.Sc. Data Science, M.Sc. Data Science were introduced.

The college was identified as Mentor College by NAAC for five colleges in and around Madurai

The college received approval for four new B.Voc. programs and three M.Voc. programs along with the existing four B. Voc. programs

Strength of the students has grown from 5445 in 2015 to 8712 in 2020 which reflects the support that the college enjoys from the public.
