ZOOLOGY

Department of Zoology was functioning as a collegiate department since the inception of The American college as a second grade college in 1881. Zoology was offered as a Part II subject to B.A. degree Group II in 1913. Postgraduate department of Zoology was added under Madras University in July 1959. B.Sc., special Zoology was offered from 1969 under Madurai Kamaraj University. Post graduate department was recognized as Research centre in 1982. M.Phil., program was started from July 1987. UGC recognized Zoology specialization in Biotechnology with financial assistance.
