Description:

  • Borassusflabelliferare trees with stem obscurely hoped and leaves simple, palmate; leaflets, split.
  • The crown is composed of approximately 60 large, fan-shaped leaves.
  • It prefers dry or moist soil and can tolerate drought.

Uses:

  • The fruit is edible and eaten raw.
  • The young plant used to treat biliousness, dysentery and gonorrhea, young roots are anthelmintic and diuretic.
  • A decoction is given in certain respiratory diseases. Dried roots can also be smoked to heal nasal complaints.
  • Toddy production, fodder.
