ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The American College, Madurai is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in South India, with a rich heritage that spans over a century. Established in 1881 by American missionaries, the college has consistently upheld the values of academic excellence, character formation, and social responsibility. Affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, college offers 33 UG and 21 PG courses in the main campus along with 8 UG and 4 PG vocational degree programs. In addition there are 15 UG and 3 PG programs at the satellite campus and research programs across various disciplines, blending tradition with modernity in education. The scenic campus, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, a well-stocked library, advanced laboratories, and vibrant student organizations, provides an ideal environment for learning and growth. Its research activities span diverse areas such as organic synthesis, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, nanoscience, and green chemistry, contributing significantly to both theoretical and applied sciences.
